One of the most notable features of Flame Stone is its reactivity to UV light. When exposed to UV, its inclusions of fluorescent sodalite look like burning embers. Formed in Canada, these stones were transported to Lake Superior in Michigan through a process of continental glaciation and are commonly found there as small pebbles. This stone is frequently called “Yooperlite”, for the U.P. (upper peninsula) where it can commonly be found.
